## Brainetics: An Easy Breezy Math Journey

Mathematics is one of the most fundamental subjects that students encounter throughout their school life. With this in mind, and the fact that math is practical in our daily lives, it is ironic that many people, children and adults alike, shy away from this subject much like a ship sails away from the wave. For math enthusiasts, it may be more difficult to think of a reason for this circumstance than to mentally square a three-digit number. Yes, you read that right: mentally square a three-digit number!

Now, before you run around your neighborhood and pretend witchcraft is real, I’m going to tell you how your brain can (well, almost) replace your calculator. The answer is simple math tricks; the kind they didn’t teach you when you were in school. You probably knew a few math tricks yourself, but did you know there’s a whole program built on the principle of finding patterns in math equations? Yes there is. And it gives learners a new perspective in mathematics.

The program is called Brainetics and it is developed by Mike Byster who is now well known for his unusual approach to solving math equations in a fun and easy way. The Brainetics program recognized the fact that math is made up of infinite numbers, but all of them follow certain patterns that could be applied when adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiplying numbers ranging from single digits to single digits five-digit complex numbers and more. Brainetics tried to find these patterns and turned them into simple math tricks.

Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it? Let me give you an example of the Brainetics tricks that were shown on the 20/20 TV show. When squaring a two-digit number that ends in 5, all you have to do is multiply the first digit by the next number. Then multiply the last digit of each. Say, you have 15 x 15. So you need to multiply 1 by the top number, which is 2 (1 x 2 = 2). Then you multiply the last two digits, or 5 x 5 = 25. Put the two products together and you get 225 as the answer to 15 x 15. That’s easy, isn’t it?

Now imagine what other calculations your mind can do with the whole Brainetics program? Not only will you give yourself a break from the calculator, but you’ll also activate the parts of your brain that only activate when you’re doing mental calculations and guesswork! And you will not only deal with whole numbers, but also those with decimals. Plus, you won’t feel the boredom you had with your math teacher before, because the Brainetics curriculum is loaded with games that will help you embed the math tricks in your mind without the overwhelming feeling of memorizing them.

Perhaps the only regret you might have after learning from the program is that you never had the chance to be taught like this when you were studying. The good news is that your children may not feel that kind of regret when they grow up. The choice is in your hands now.
