Hollywood Celebrities and Pop Culture – The Rape of the Mind

Fame, fortune and power are at the top of the heap when it comes to what we call success. The most particular of these is fame. It seems the rule, which is rarely spoken out loud, is that anyone who’s very famous hasn’t figured it out because they’ve done everything wrong. Oh really! Who hasn’t heard the names of some famous criminals like John Dillinger or Al Capone or John Wayne Gacy? Many of these criminals were even trustworthy and held hero status in some people’s minds.

After all, actors portray only the worst human behavior, so they are held above any level of guilt. Unaware of the power of suggestion and the force of example, they are generally held to be innocent. The fact that thousands of young, feeble-minded individuals and those with a penchant for criminal activity can be directly influenced by actors is not meant to be addressed. How easy it is to portray those who speak out against this evil influence as extremists, right-wing extremists, biblethumpers, egoists, or some other appellation that I cannot mention here. Does fame change the standards of morality, unfortunately for many Americans the answer is yes?

Faith in God is among other things a call to get rid of the influence exerted on us by the rich, powerful or famous. It is repeatedly addressed in the Bible with admonitions like this. “You shall not pluck judgment; you shall respect no one, you shall accept no gift: for a gift blinds the eyes of the wise and perverts the words of the righteous.” Deuteronomy 16:19 For those who are deeply influenced by celebrities, it requires much less than a gift, but only a glimpse or a word from their favorite star can make them accept a perverted or twisted secular view or cause in the minute New York proverb. It is mind rape. These spirits are not weak spirits but according to the Bible they are blind spirits and easy prey. 2 Corinthians 4:14

In his cheeky and irreverent style of political humor, Bill Maher captured the attention of millions of American minds. The fact that these spirits were largely suspended in the air by absolutely nothing made them easy prey. His show “Politically Incorrect” which ended in 2002 won several Emmy Awards during its run. In the summer of 2006, Mr. Maher appeared on the Jay Leno show and, in his usual pompous style, espoused much of his liberal hype to rapturous applause from the audience. The most enthusiastic applause came from the audience when Mr. Maher denounced the resistance to stem cell research that Maher attributes in large part to the policies of the Bush administration.

He lifted the audience when he said that what stifles the good efforts of stem cell researchers are men like George Bush who decided on their own when exactly life begins. He deduced that it was Mr. Bush’s religious beliefs that led him to resist the great high priests of the secular world, the scientists. For the average couch potato trying to relax in his own home, this may have gone unnoticed, but perhaps a few good people may have wondered how Mr. Maher decided when life begins or does not begin. not. Why should his point of view be more valid than that of the presidents?

If the beginning of life takes place at some unknown time after conception which is arbitrarily determined by anyone, then it would be easy to make a mistake. Those who say it’s after the first trimester may be off by a month, a day, or even a minute. What sane person would want to take a chance on this deadly mistake? Do the math, those who say life begins at conception might be wrong, but that still wouldn’t leave anyone dead. Proponents of abortion have no such guaranteed outcome to their beliefs.

According to Mr. Maher and others who are not so sure about the beginning of life, the Chinese who are attributed with the following proverb must be totally incorrect. “The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.” I guess if we really want to know if the proverb is true or not, we could just start traveling to Hollywood from wherever we are. Once there, we might knock on a celebrity’s door and ask if our journey started at the first mile of the journey or at some other point along the way. Oh, no way take off for Washington DC because we already know what that stupid old president is going to say. He will tell us that our journey began with the first step and the first kilometer. Who could believe this nonsense?

The priests of ancient Baalism offered children as sacrifices to appease their gods. The Bible says that these gods were really just demons. Is the offering of our unborn child to the priests of science and secularism so different? Has the end justifying the means become an acceptable substitute for doing what is natural, right and obviously moral and humane? Human? What would the animal rights activist do if he got wind of a group of veterinarians pulling whole litters of puppies out of their mothers’ bodies for an experiment? How many animal hospitals would be picketed, burned or worse?

Mr. Maher and his enthusiastic audience may not be as sure as Mr. Bush of the beginning of human life, but there is one place they might want to visit to help them with their decision. Instead of the Hollywood Celebrity Tour, maybe they should head to Wichita Kansas to see the building that Operation Blessing recently purchased. The building was once used by Central Women’s Services as an abortion clinic. On August 7, 2006, it was reported by several news agencies that Operation Blessing people had sprayed the building’s walls, ceilings, and floors with a substance known as luminol. They took both photos and videos from inside the old clinic that would chill anyone’s blood, no matter how heartless or hardened they may be. The room shone like something out of the worst horror movie of the decade. From the floors, walls and even ceilings, a strange glow of death filled the room and one photographer became so ill he had to flee the room before he passed out.

Visiting this ancient clinic may not answer the question of when life begins, but it would go a long way in showing how and how life ends. After that, the first question can receive much more attention and thought. For most of us with an average measure of common sense, we don’t need the Bible, the President, or Hollywood celebrities to tell us that most things start…in the beginning.
